For the Birds is now offering new ways to get involved!  Take a look at our mission statement and browse the site to see if FTB is right for you.  After reading our guidelines and protocols, if you are still interested, download the application below so that we can get to know you a little better!

Please note that For The Birds is inclusive of folks with a range of gender expression, though we are not currently open to male-identified community members as volunteers or collective members in the interest of preserving a safer space. Our events are all ages and everyone is welcome.

We’re looking for folks to table at events as well as guest-blog:

➠ TABLING: We generally table with our distro at least once a month. Volunteers who commit to an event are expected to help with setting up, minding, and breaking down the distro at the end of the night.  Minding the distro usually includes selling zines, logging what has been sold, and answering questions about the distro and collective to people stopping by.  We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the zines and other materials we offer in order to best answer questions from event-goers and to be able to recommend specific titles. Any specific questions about For The Birds should be referred to a collective member.

➠ BLOGGING: Volunteers are encouraged to contribute to the For The Birds blog with event announcements, re-posting news stories or other original feminist commentary. Potential blog posts should be e-mailed to the collective so that everyone can approve it. A collective member will then post the blog, crediting the volunteer.  While re-posting an interesting story or event announcements are pretty straight-forward, we are very intentional to what we include on our blog in terms of editorial content. While we hope to facilitate healthy dialogue with a multitude of perspectives and opinions, we support the maintaining of a safer space for a discussion free of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other oppressions.
